Amandla Development envisions a South Africa where individuals of all backgrounds have equal opportunity and live to their fullest dignified potential.
Collective impact is the idea that complex social issues like education require multiple impacts for there to be real change. A hungry, or abused, or ill child will struggle to concentrate in school. So it’s necessary for various actors to come together, agree on a common vision for the community’s children, and commit to realising that vision. Amandla coordinates the work of the Philippi Collective Network to see all of Philippi’s young people able to finish their schooling and become employable, active citizens.
Because of apartheid’s legacy, there is a stark difference between resources of schools and communities. Because of this legacy of exclusion, the most vulnerable youth of colour, LGBT youth, and young women are being left behind. We’re driving a paradigm that creates opportunity for all.
